Imported from the US, these pads provide the ultimate in shock absorption and versatility. Using the highest grade shock absorbing memory foam, Skito pads are profiled to fit the horse’s shape and absorb up to 90% of the shock impact! The open cell structure of the foam encourages moisture and heat absorption from the horse’s back, keeping him cool and comfortable.
Skito orthopaedic pads come in a variety of saddle pads to fit dressage, jumping, all purpose, endurance, stock, western and treeless saddles, as well as insert systems to suit specific models of treeless saddles pads. Perfect for everyday use to increase horse performance and comfort, or for horses with sensitive backs, asymmetry problems, saddles that slip, growing horses and for the rider using one saddle on multiple horses.
We use these pads constantly to help solve saddlefitting problems and to correct some common saddlefit issues where purchasing a new saddle is not an option – too wide, rocking, bridging, sensitive backs and incorrect panel angles for horses with poor toplines. We custom make our Skito pads for your specific saddlefitting requirements.
Different shim combinations to suit different saddlefitting issues.
Front shims - for horses with whither pocket atrophy, can be used with different thicknesses on either side in cases where the horses have built up unevenly or have asymmetric muscle wastage (saddle can often tip or twist to one side when riding)
Front lifts – for issues of saddle balance when the saddle is lower at the front and the rider feels tipped forwards; often when horses are croup high
Rear shims – again, for any muscle wastage in the lower muscles of the horses back or if you have asymmetrical croup (tips to one side)
Rear lift – for horses that are built uphill or the saddle tips the rider backwards (must only be used where the gullet in the front is the correct size for the horse; not too narrow)
Centre shims – for saddles that bridge due to ‘dippy’ backed horses or saddles that are too straight for the horses back.
Can be good for western saddles that are long and causing issues around the skirting on the horse’s croup.
Skito foam can be shaped to custom modify the pad to the specific horse and saddle combination.
This can be particularly useful for horses that are putting on condition, growing or changing shape.
